keeping the digitech

I mentioned this in a live broadcast I recently did, but yeah I’m keeping the Digitech GSP1101. I had debated returning the thing but after messing around with it I finally got it to sound the way I like.

Here’s a vid I made a few days ago just messing around with it. There’s electronic buzzing because I had the output set incorrect (since fixed). I’ll do up another GSP1101 vid eventually. :-)

There’s never been a video of me anywhere playing the electric bass guitar, so.. here ya go. Enjoy.

Set your wife on fire

The title of this bloggo is the subject line of a spam I received.

I’m not kidding.

Anyhoo…

“Webrity”?

Due to the online live show I’ve been hosting, someone actually called me a “webrity”, which I assume means “internet celebrity”.

I’ve never thought of myself as famous, but someone thinks so.

I could be called worse things I suppose.

Sumbitch

Yesterday eve I arrived @ Pop’s and I’m still here where I’m writing this post from now. Right after “hello” I apologized to him.

I apologized for every time I’ve snapped in needless anger, been pig-headed, selfish, arrogant and an outright sumbitch.

He was a bit confused why I was apologizing because I hadn’t done anything.

I did so because I was reminded from a phone conversation just hours before that there are times when I am an arrogant sumbitch. 30 years of New England living will do that to you, but the Sunshine State is slowly but surely weaning that out of me.

You never stop learning no matter how old you get, that’s for sure.

I am on an ongoing endeavor to be less sumbitchy.

Age 33, Day 1

My hair didn’t fall out, I still get morning wood and I can still bust out machine-gun ripper loud farts (and belches).

Life is good.

a flurry of all the rest of the vids on my youtube channel

Okay I was going to give each vid it’s own post but I’m too lazy to do that so here they all are with descriptions (following up from the last I did):

Crappy Strat Bic Lighter Blues

For some reason it always impresses people that I can play slide guitar with a Bic cigarette lighter. So I posted a vid on that.

Counter-Strike Condition Zero fy_snow foolishness

Only CS players will understand what this vid is about. The map shown, fy_snow is the dumbest map of all time but it’s on virtually every “pub” server out there. I disabled the comments on it because of the stupid comments that were coming in.

Michael McDonald at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Florida

A quick clip of when I went to see Michael McDonald at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Good show. Well done.

Acoustic Guitar in C Major Tuning

Guitar-nerdy type of vid.

New Strings on Acoustic

I had new strings on the acoustic and decided to record a vid.

‘93 Fender USA Standard Stratocaster

I only posted this vid due to some retard that thought I didn’t have a “real” Stratocaster, so I proved him wrong.

Star Wars Electric Lead Guitar

Posted because I didn’t see any other (good) videos of anyone playing the main theme to that movie. The vid didn’t quite catch on as I thought it would…

Squier Strat Blues

Posted because I hadn’t any videos of me playing with accompaniment.

Win XP taskbar stuff, Launchy, etc.

Posted as a response to a YouTube message I got.

Different ways to mount a Garmin Streetpilot

I thought this video would get some good traffic but it hasn’t done SHIT. :-)

Garmin 2008 Super Bowl Commercial Song

Okay, best for last (literally, it’s the last video I have on my channel at the time of this post).

This video at the time of this writing has just a hair under 6,500 views.

Why?

Because people didn’t read the whole title of the video. They just saw “Garmin 2008 Super Bowl…” and assumed it was the actual commercial.

Wrong. It’s just me playing along to the song in that video.

Several hi-traffic web sites mistakenly linked to me playing the song instead of the actual commercial.

Bwaahahahahah..

That’s funny. And no it was not my intention to deceive anyone - said honestly.

I haven’t broken any copyright by playing along to the song. If I included video from the commercial then yeah I would have, but I didn’t because it’s technically a cover song which is 100% legal. If it weren’t, every single cover song would be taken off YouTube post haste.

I disabled the comments and ratings on the vid because a few people got angry that my video was not the actual commercial. But Garmin posted it on their garminblog YouTube channel so all is right with the world.. hopefully. :-) Heh.

Bad grammar aside, I couldn’t agree more.

Fender Squier Strat sounds like crap!

I originally posted this video on YouTube September 25, 2007.

Oh man do I have a good tale to tell about this one.

What you see in the video is me playing my first guitar that I still own. It’s an early-90s Fender Stratocaster Squire II, Korean build.

I titled the video “Fender Squier Strat sounds like crap!” for two reasons:

  1. Squier by Fender is well known to be the low-end bargain basement Stratocaster. It is not built with the same quality standards as USA-made strats. This is undisputed.
  2. I know it doesn’t sound like crap, so I purposely titled it as sounding “like crap” as a joke.

At the time of this writing there are 71 YouTube comments on this vid, several of which are from YouTube “guitar experts”.

Most musicians are assholes, but the ones that truly take the cake are those who desperately try to look smart in the form of a comment.

I got sick of those morons, so this was the blurb I had in the sidebar for this video for a while:

The title is a JOKE, you idiots. OF COURSE the guitar sounds good. The title is SUPPOSED to throw you off.

The guitar is an early 90’s Korean-built Fender Stratocaster Squier II. It was my first guitar and I still own it (obviously).

There is NO AMP being played in the video. The sound is going DIRECT from the guitar to a SansAMP GT2, then an ancient Alesis Quadraverb GT plugged into my sound card. I’M NOT KIDDING. If you have any home studio know-how at all you can recreate any good guitar sound including simulated amps. Don’t believe me? I honestly don’t care.

YES, I do own a “real” Stratocaster USA standard but I haven’t posted a video playing the blue one yet. I also on a Schecter C-1 Classic and some other guitars. If you idiots BOTHERED to watch my other videos you would see these.

And to any moron who:

a. Tells me how to play
b. “Suggests” gear
c. Says they can do better

..if you don’t have a video of your own to back it up DONE BY YOU - you talk out of your ass. Don’t be an ass speaker.

And oh yeah, the “experts” didn’t like that blurb at all. Several comments came in shortly after that, blah blah.. the “experts” all so desperately trying to look smart.. heh.

Funny lot, that bunch. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. At all.

Messing around on the Schecter C-1 Classic

I originally posted this video on YouTube September 08, 2007.

I never had a video of me physically playing the Schecter on YouTube so I figured I’d post one.

More TIE Fighter DOS Gameplay

I originally posted this video on YouTube August 05, 2007.

This was my final TIE Fighter DOS video. I was going to do thru the whole game and record the missions but said fuggit, so this was my last one.

Sabayon Linux 3.4a tryout on the LiveCD

I originally posted this video on YouTube August 02, 2007.

This is just me trying out Sabayon Linux. I didn’t care for it too much and ultimately decided not to use it. It was cool that a lot of stuff worked without issue, but what turned me off big time was the add/remove of apps, which to be honest sucks.

The only reason I keep this video up is because it has over 5,000 views. Otherwise I’d delete it.

Tampa rainfall

I originally posted this video on YouTube July 20, 2007.

During the summer season it’s typical to get rain once a day for a small while (30 minutes to an hour), then it goes away, then comes back the next day, rinse, repeat, etc.

This is not hurricane-style wind and rain. If it were, I wouldn’t be standing outside shooting it. :-)

The rain is almost warm enough to be like bathwater.
