smoking update

Starting this week I am going to attempt to not smoke a cigarette more than once per hour. Last week I did really good and did not smoke more than once every half-hour, which included many instances where the time was a lot longer than that. I only cheated once (and only once) in the span of seven days and that’s acceptable because it was very early in the week.

I figure if I was able to “survive” with the half-hour limitation, the one-hour limit might just work.

For the past six hours I’ve had only six smokes. Cool! Well, not cool that I’m smoking, cool that I’m smoking much less - to the tune of 50% less.

I can definitely tell because every time I light up a smoke I feel a high.

. . .

tech talk

For a good long time I’ve been outright avoiding tech talk on my blog because I felt that no one particularly gave a shit about that sort of stuff. However I forgot one thing - computer nerds use the internet more than anyone else. To this day I still get search engine hits on really old stuff I wrote about tech related stuff.

What this means is you’re probably going to see more of it because there are tons of things I’ve skipped writing about just because I was avoiding the subject.

And with that said my next post will probably be something tech-o-rama. :D

I’m sure that to the people that read this that have never smoked, one cigarette per hour seems not only easy, but even excessive. They have noooooo idea how hard that can be to do. I used to try to make myself do that and I know there were plenty of times I’d say “fuggit” (yes, “fuggit”!) and just smoke. I think sometimes it’s harder when you’re specifically timing yourself… like when you tell someone “don’t think about zebras,” and then that’s all they can think about.

I’ve been doing fairly well with the whole not-smoking thing, but I’m using that Chantix stuff. I’ve been trying various other methods since January and thus far this is the only thing that’s worked for me. Your method as described previously in this blog makes sense, but I don’t know if I could do it that way either. Maybe I’ll try that if I go back to smoking after this. :p

Good luck though (if I haven’t said it already?)… can you imagine, both of us being “non-smokers”?! Weird. :D

This is why I employ the use of a small memo pad and pen. If you specifically write down when you smoke it does in fact make it easier.

Since the beginning of the week I’ve only cheated twice. At the time of this writing I’m on my tenth cig of the day - WAY less than usual which is good.

Thanks for the good wishes. This is my second real attempt at quitting and I’m making good progress so far. I’ve tried patches and gum before but they didn’t work. My lil’ memo pad method however is working so far. :-)
