Should’ve posted this on May 6thThursday May 19th 2005 May 6th past and I totally forget to mention that I’ve been blogging for over a YEAR. Yeah. A whole year. Wow. In actuality I started blogging before May 6th 2004 - but I couldn’t import my entries from my other blog. Technically I’ve been blogging for 13.5 months. BUT ANYWAY.. In celebration of this momentous occasion, here’s my thoughts on what I’ve learned from blogging. Ahem.. Friendships are rekindled Something I’ve gained from blogging is the rekindling of old friends. People that I haven’t talked to in years have looked me up through this web site. It put a warm feeling in my heart every time it happened. One can never have too many friends, and I have gained good friendships both old and new by use of blogging. Writing is therapy Although I never knew it before I started blogging, I really like writing. Writing is good for the soul. It allows you to get your feelings out there and share them with others. In addition, it’s a chronicle of your life. I wish I would have started journal’ing years ago. Sometimes I read over some of my older entries and go through the ups and downs, sit back and think “Wow.. that’s me.” Yeah, it is. Cool beans. ;-) Informational archive Long time readers of my site know I write about techie stuff from time to time. Every now and zen I use my own blog search to find stuff I’ve written about before for technical reference. Sounds funny but it’s true. I’ll be in the middle of doing something with the computer and then I get stuck trying to remember what I did before. “How did I do that…? Oh yeah, I blogged about it.” I do a search and find the answer. My own tech guide. Yuk yuk yuk. The best web site I’ve ever had Although the design of this site has changed at least 10 (or 15 or whatever) times, the content has always remained the same. And it’s the content that makes a web site great. Am I saying this web site is great? No - you can be the judge of that. What I am saying is that I have never had so much fun with a site before this one. I’ve had many - but this is the one that counts the most and it’s the one I’m most proud of.
