Thinking about TAXI or Broadjam? Don’t!

You’ll notice from my last post that I have a new tune on my music site. I was pretty much forced to put it there instead of my BroadJam page, and here’s why: I used to be able to upload something to BroadJam and then have it online and “finalized” in 15 minutes because I’m a TAXI member, and have a BroadJam account in conjunction with TAXI. It’s supposed to be fast, but guess what, BroadJam got greedy. Now, unless I’m a “Pro” member, I have to wait 72 HOURS before a song goes online. I’m ALREADY a TAXI member which costs WAY more than BroadJam. So much for that perk. I will be removing all the stuff from BroadJam and just place it on my music site instead.

Speaking of which, TAXI is completely worthless. Is it a good tool to find a music deal? Sure, but, here’s some things they won’t tell you:

1. Every time you submit music, it will cost you 5 bucks per song you submit. Yep, every time.

2. There is no guarantee you will receive a response - and you never do.

3. It is difficult to find out exactly WHO your music goes to.

4. Because of your subscription, you get flooded with junk mail (no not e-mail, the regular postal mail kind) from “music professionals” trying to hock their wares to you. This means your information is sold to others.

The end result is wasted money. TAXI was a waste of my hard earned cash. I’m finding that the old method, which is making use of college radio and FM radio - and your fans, still works. You have a much better shot at making your music work with that instead of trying to use TAXI.

TAXI only works if you’ve got money to blow, which most of us don’t. I stopped using it months ago, and I won’t use them again.
